Remanco Systems Inc.
Nailing Jell-O to the wall

Case History
In 1980 Remanco launched the world's first computerized restaurant management system. They intended to target large restaurant chains.

Q Group predecessor, Norman Lowe Associates, advised that they focus on entrepreneurs who had built successful restaurants and who, in our judgment, were far more likely to gamble on a new company from a strange and scary new industry.

We used a problem/solution approach to show restaurateurs how they would benefit from using the system. The entrepreneurs related to headlines such as “Trying to define good service is like trying to nail Jell-O to the wall” and they were persuaded.

Soon we were able to use testimonial advertising (“What do Toronto's King Edward, Bangkok Rama Gardens and Paris' celebrated George V have in common?”, etc.)

In four years, the company grew from nothing to $40-million in sales, becoming the leading player in the industry.
