The birth of the long distance flat rate.
In March of 1995, a direct mail campaign was launched in the United States. Telephone calls were offered at 16 cents a minute any time of the day or night, any day of the week, anywhere in the Continental U.S. It was the first time any telecoms company had offered flat rate long distance. It was our idea. (For the full story, please click here). Eighteen months later AT&T and Sprint followed suit and marketing of the industry was revolutionized.
Our proprietary list vendor testing procedure, developed for this project, also caused list vendors to change their ways. But that is another story.
